Alternate headline: a couple of UNC rejects find their way to each other.
Ok, ok Tyler got waitlisted and Taylor got rejected. Tyler found his way to ECU and then to Greensboro where Taylor showed up a few years after graduating from Fairfield.
The most shocking part of this story is that after swiping right and exchanging a few messages, these two homebodies met for a first date on a hot TUESDAY in July of 2018. That's right, they both agreed to be social after work on a Tuesday.
Then they just never stopped hanging out. While keeping the relationship casual, Tyler brought Taylor to the infamous Ballfield Rd. in December 2018, shortly after their first of many UNC games together. It was the first and last big snow storm they've shared and where Taylor learned of Tyler's love for the place he grew up, and building fire. Tyler learned that Taylor had no innate fire building skills, but alas they survived.
In July 2019, Tyler graduated Taylor from 'lover' to 'girlfriend' and they moved into Tyler's 1 BR apartment together... thankfully it went well as a few months later, COVID hit and there was nowhere else to go.
After surviving a year together in a 1 BR apartment (Taylor working from home for half of that time) they bought a house in Whitsett where Taylor brought home Lemon (Lemmy) after impulsively rescuing her from Puerto Rico.
Since then, life has been about welcoming and having fun with their 6 nieces and nephews, focusing on careers, traveling, UNC sports, yoga, grilling and whatever else childless people in their 30s do with all their free time.
Cheers to continuing the adventure as Tyler & Taylor Barr!
